Thank You

As some of you know by now I am working on starting my own branding firm in the near future. I started a design company once before but things don’t always go so well when there are partners involved. So without getting into details, things just didn’t work out so I sold my share of the company and stayed on as an employee. The time for me to spread my wings, as it were, is now. I have learned so much over the past few years about design as well as business.

Though starting up is familiar territory for me, it is no less intimidating and scary. I spent the past two weeks developing a logo for the new company, Bright Black and I foresee spending countless more hours working on business cards and a website to complete my identity. Posted some ideas for the logo on here and asked my Twitter friends to give me feedback and critique. Fully expecting to have my logo shredded with criticism but instead I received constructive, even warm comments. I took a great majority of those comments to heart and used them to tweak the logo and make it better. Thanks to all of you for your help. I will need it again I’m sure.

There have been so many people in my life that have told me I will never amount to anything with this “design” stuff. I have to thank all of them for giving me the drive to prove them wrong. I am nothing if not stubborn and the opportunity to prove all the naysayers wrong was really what drove me to improve my skills and expand my knowledge early on. So thanks for that.

The one person that has given me the strength to push through the tough times is my beautiful girlfriend Chrissy. She has given me more faith in myself than anyone I have ever known. She has been the driving force behind my motivation for the past 10 months. She is now carrying my child and that above all may be the biggest motivation of all. Knowing that I will be a father in 7 months is a sure fire way to keep me on my game. Failure is not an option at this point. Thank you baby, I love you.

I can’t thank everyone enough and if I try this post will go on longer than it already has so I will wrap it up. In short – thank you all!
